Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a roadshow in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar in support of BJP candidate, Chandan Kumar Chaudhary. Delhi Elections 2025 will be held in a single phase on Feb 5. Counting of votes will be done on Feb 8.

Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: Ahead of Delhi polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said states with a double-engine BJP government have progressed in the last 10 years, but Delhi has been left behind because the Aam Aadmi Party kept making excuses and fighting with the Centre. Addressing a rally in Delhi’s Jangpura, Shah called AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia “bade miyan and chote miyan” and accused them of “looting” Delhi.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, in a video statement, appealed to the voters to give them a lead by 15% only then they will be able to win by 5%.

“I would like to tell the people of Delhi, that I have come to know through sources that they can cause discrepancies in 10% of votes through machines. Vote in such large numbers that every vote goes to ‘jhaadu’ (AAP). So if we have a 15% lead, we will win by 5%. Give us a lead of more than 10% everywhere…This is the only way to tackle machines, that you vote in large numbers. We have developed a website as a precautionary measure. Learning a lesson from the Maharashtra and Haryana elections, we have decided that on the night of 5th February, we will upload 6 details of every polling booth so that the machines can’t be tampered with…If they cause any discrepancy on the day of counting, you can match the numbers,” said Kejriwal.

Around 1.56 crore voters will cast their ballots in Delhi across 13,766 polling stations on February 5. Among the voters, 83.76 lakh are men, 72.36 lakh women, while 1,267 are third-gender voters.

The riot-torn Mustafabad in northeast Delhi is seeing an intense three-way battle unfold ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls — the rift is visible and might be reflected in the results as well, plus, there is anti-incumbency against the sitting MLA. This is one seat with a unique mix of candidates – a veteran leader, a newcomer, a political heir, and an undertrial.

With over 2.63 lakh voters, this is one of the most densely populated constituencies. Locals who News18 spoke to said that the “real fight” here is between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but the contest is far from simple for either.

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who had reached AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s residence along with a group of women from Purvanchal, was detained by the Delhi Police.

Maliwal had collected water from the Yamuna River and carried it to the residence of Kejriwal to make him drink a sip of it.

Before getting detained, Maliwal said, “… Arvind Kejriwal has turned the Yamuna River into a drain. Black dirty rotten water is flowing in Yamuna. The river is on a ventilator, while Arvind Kejriwal is in his palace and roams around in luxurious cars. Thousands of women from Purvanchal have come here to challenge him- he should not be so scared of women and should come out and take a dip in the dirty water of Yamuna and take a sip of that water… The women of Purvanchal are saying that he will be cursed by Chhathi Maiya because the women have no other place to celebrate Chhath…”

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, along with a group of women from Purvanchal, reached the residence of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal with the water they had collected from the Yamuna River to make him take a sip.

BJP MP Ravi Kishan held a roadshow and campaigned for party candidate Narayan Dutt Sharma in Badarpur.

“I have come here for Narayan Dutt Sharma and I appeal to the people of Badarpur, and the people of Purvanchal in particular, to support BJP so that Badapur doesn’t stay behind… O appeal to the people of Badarpur to get the people of Delhi out of the hell that this AAP government has created,” said Kishan.

On the last day of the campaigning, AAP leader and MLA candidate from the Jangpura constituency Manish Sisodia held a roadshow in the Jangpura area.

“On one side, there is politics for education and working for public and on the side there is politics of loot. I appeal to the people to choose a team of educated and honest people…BJP does ‘gali-galoch’ but Kejriwal is the one who does the work. BJP wants to win elections by doing ‘gundagardi’ because it knows that it is going to lose the elections…We will form the government with a comfortable majority,” said Sisodia.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held a roadshow for BJP candidate from Sultanpur Majra assembly constituency Karam Singh Kamra in Sultanpuri.

“Election campaigning in Delhi is ending today. This is the last rally… BJP is winning Delhi with a big majority… I am confident that people will vote for the double-engine government,” said Sawant.

AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is heading towards its worst defeat. He said that the party will misuse Delhi Police for hooliganism and they will threaten the public.

He appealed to the people to not get fooled by these goons who would either offer money or say have come from the Election Commission. He further asked them not to allow anyone to put black mark on their finger without casting the vote.

“Now it is clear from the atmosphere of Delhi that Aam Aadmi Party is moving towards a historic victory and Bharatiya Janata Party is moving towards its worst defeat. So Bharatiya Janata Party will obviously do anything. The news coming from within BJP is that they are going to misuse Delhi Police. Keeping all the laws and constitution aside, Delhi Police will be used for complete hooliganism. They will use their goons to scare and threaten people, they will do everything,” said Kejriwal.

“But the most dangerous thing that is coming out is that they will come to you, especially to our poor section, they will give you money. They will say that they are from Election Commission and you should cast your vote… First of all, let me inform you that Election Commission does not go to your house and conduct voting. Do not be fooled by this, this is a lie, this is a fraud…If they put a black mark on your finger, then do not do it at all. Aam Aadmi Party has made arrangements to stop all this hooliganism,” he added.

Kejriwal said that AAP has been distributing spy cameras and body cameras in slums to stop the malpractice of the BJP.

“AAP has deployed quick action teams, distributed spy cams and body cams in slum areas to prevent BJP’s electoral malpractice,” he said.

In the wake of the Delhi assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asked Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal to take a sip of the water of the Yamuna River, while reminding him of his promise of taking a dip in the river.

Taking a dig at Kejriwal, Gandhi asked him to take a sip of Yamuna River and added that he would meet him in the hospital later.

BJP Leader Smriti Irani held a roadshow in Adarsh ​​Nagar and said that Modi’s guarantee is echoing there.

“A hardworking party worker has been made the candidate from Adarsh ​​Nagar. When Rajkumar Bhatia is going from street to street, Modi’s guarantee is echoing there. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a roadshow in Aya Nagar area of Chattarpur Constituency in support of BJP candidate Kartar Singh Tanwar.

“This time the people of Delhi have decided to give a two-third majority to the BJP in Delhi. People are also confident that the BJP government will be formed in Delhi… India’s economy has grown, development has taken place. No one can ignore these figures… There is no doubt that these (AAP) people have betrayed the people of Delhi,” said Singh.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Jangpura constituency and held door to door campaign in support of Congress candidate Farhad Suri.

Firing a fresh salvo at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, senior BJP leader, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister did not get any work done in 10 years and only focussed on opening liquor shops near schools and temples.

Addressing an election rally in Jangpura on the last day of campaigning, Amit Shah said, “In the last 10 years of tenure, Sisodia has not done a single work. He only opened liquor shops near schools and temples.”

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal took to X and announced that she is heading to AAP chief Arvind Kejrwal’s house, along with thousands of women, to make him drink Yamuna water and asked him not to be afraid.

“Yamuna river has transformed into a drain because of Arvind Kejriwal. I have come here with thousands of Purvanchali women and the situation here is so bad that the stench has made it difficult for us to stand here. The Purvanchali women are going with me to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence and what to ask him, where did the Rs 7500 crores allotted for cleaning the river go?… We are all going to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to challenge him to come face us and see the black water we have collected from the river for him to see and take a dip in it, and if possible, drink it too,” said Maliwal.

BJP candidate from the New Delhi Assembly constituency Parvesh Verma said that the Talkatora Stadium was named by the Mughals who used it as their swimming pool. He added that the BJP government will rename it Maharshi Valmiki Stadium after coming to power.

“We will win by a margin of more than 20,000 votes. It could be 25,000-26,000. Arvind Kejriwal will lose his deposit here and will come third,” said Verman

“Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium was named so by Mughals who used it as their swimming pool. Now it has lost relevance. People of Valmiki community wanted a big building in the name of Maharshi Valmiki… This is why I promised that in the first NDMC meeting after the declaration of results, I will propose and get it passed after which, in one month, the stadium will be renamed to Maharshi Valmiki Stadium,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the students and discussed how their future has been harmed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government which was trying to improve its image.

PM Modi alleged that the AAP government has a policy whereby if a student fails twice in Class 9, he or she is asked to shift to Open Schooling at the National Institute of Open School in Delhi.

BJP has claimed his policy is wrong because it deprives such students of pursuing class 10 in a normal school. PM Modi said that the Delhi government is playing with the future of students by blocking their move to Class 10 so as to protect its own record.

“I have heard in Delhi, they (AAP government) do not allow children to go further after class 9. Only those children who are guaranteed to pass are allowed to go. Because if their result is bad, their government’s reputation will be ruined. That is why very dishonest work is done,” said PM Modi in an interaction with students.

Speaking at the election rally in Jangpura, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP government after coming to power in Delhi will open Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ for public viewing.

“…In 2013, Kejriwal used to say he would not take a house, car or security after becoming CM. But he took a car and bungalow also. He was not satisfied with one house, so he constructed the ‘Sheesh Mahal’…Who does this Rs 51,000 crore belong to? It belongs to the people of Delhi. I promise that we will open ‘Sheesh Mahal’ to public viewing…After Kejriwal indulged in corruption worth crores of rupees, should he be voted to power again?” said Shah.

Speaking at the election rally in Jangpura, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Delhi’s former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal did not take a dip in River Yamuna.

He said that the BJP will construct Yamuna River Front in three years after coming to power.

“Kejriwal had said that he would take a dip in river Yamuna, but he did not do so…Kejriwal ji, you did not clean the Yamuna river, but today I want to say that we will construct Yamuna River Front on the river in three years after being voted to power,” said Shah.

While speaking at a rally in Jangpura, Home Minister Amit Shah accused Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of not doing a single work in the last 10 years and only opening liquor shops in the capital city.

He said that Sisodia is the first education minister of India who had to go to jail in liquorgate scam.

“Manish Sisodia (AAP candidate from Jangpura constituency) has come here. You should ask him, what did he do that he had to leave Patparganj (constituency). He thinks he can make false promises here now after deceiving the people of Patparganj. As a Deputy CM, he did one work, that is to open liquor shops near all temples, schools and gurudwaras. There is only one Education Minister in the country who went to jail in the liquor scam,” said Shah.

The Delhi Assembly Election 2025 campaigning will come to an end today.

The polling will be held on February 5 and the results will be announced after vote counting on February 8.

Arvind Kejriwal has repeatedly failed to fulfill key promises. The former Chief Minister of Delhi had promised to bring down power tariffs, provide clean drinking water, improve the education system, enhance healthcare, ensure a clean environment, remove landfills, prioritise safety of women, offer housing for slum dwellers, and clean the Yamuna. Kejriwal had in the past also promised to open 1,000 Mohalla Clinics but failed to do so.

In fact, most clinics that were opened are in a dilapidated state with no doctors or medicines, providing refuge to stray cattle and anti-social elements. Fake pathology and radiology tests have been conducted at Mohalla Clinics and payments made to private labs in the name of referrals, as per reports.

Speaking about the notices sent by the Election Commission over the Yamuna poisoning remark, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal said that the Commission has surrendered before the BJP and it appears as if it does not exist.

“…Today the way the Election Commission has surrendered before the Bharatiya Janata Party, it seems as if the Election Commission does not exist. This is raising a very big question. It is absolutely justified for people to have questions in their minds that Rajiv Kumar Ji, who is the Chief Election Commissioner, is retiring at the end of this month, what kind of post has been offered to him post retirement? The post of Governor, the post of President, what kind of post can it be?.. I request Rajiv Kumar Ji with folded hands. Do your duty, give up the desire for the post, give up the greed for the post. Now at the end of your career, do not destroy the country, the country’s democracy,” Kejriwal said.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attacked Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday and said that Delhi’s former chief minister “tarnished” the land where he was born and he deserves to stay in the Tihar jail.

Kejriwal, who was born in Haryana, had said that the Yamuna water supply to the capital was poisoned by the BJP-led state government with ammonia.

Minister of Industry and Supply of India Piyush Goyal said that the people of Delhi trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee.

He said that the people of Delhi are excited to make the Double Engine Sarkar of Bhartiya Janta Party. He added that the people know PM Modi cares for Delhi and have decided to support BJP candidates.

Delhi High Court refused to grant an urgent hearing to a petition filed by former High Court Judge Justice S N Dhingra against the BJP, AAP and Congress over their political promises to distribute cash to the voters (freebies) in the upcoming Assembly elections.

“Whatever impact the freebies had to have, it’s already happened, the campaigning will end today,” said a bench led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya.

BJP MP Sambit Patra reached Bijwasan to campaign for party candidate Kailash Gahlot and spoke to the locals about the issue of water supply.

He said that he had never seen such a huge area with no access to drinking water.

“According to a study, every Vidhan Sabha of Delhi is being supplied with dirty water… Now who will he blame for this? Haryana, Punjab, or J&K? AAP-da and Arvind Kejriwal are responsible for this,” Patra said.

“Aren’t residents of this area our citizens? Do they not have the right to clean drinking water? Why are they forced to buy water from mafias?… Arvind Kejriwal is earning crores by supplying water in this way… You can see a private meter installed here,” he added.

“We will expose the water scam that is being done by Arvind Kejriwal… I thought that these wires above us are electricity wires, but they are not. These are hose pipes. Water is being supplied through these pipes. Arvind Kejriwal had promised to transform Delhi into Venice but ‘pani toh hamara sar ke upar se beh raha hai’… These water pipes are supplying water to every house here,” the BJP leader said.

Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva said that the people of the capital city are aware of the disgusting facts about AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal.

“We have been saying this from day one. As the elections approach, Arvind Kejriwal will get his people attacked…This time Delhi knows about his disgusting acts. It will give an answer to that on the 5th. Voting will be in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party. A double-engine government will be formed in Delhi under the leadership of Narendra Modi and corrupt people like Arvind Kejriwal will now leave Delhi…,” Sachdeva said.

The campaigning of the political parties has been turning interesting day by day. In the latest campaign video of AAP, the party chose to make its chief Arvind Kejriwal.

The party vowed to save Delhi’s magic in this election season.

A notification was issued by the Election Commission as per which the conduct, publishing and publicising of exit polls was banned between 7 am to 6:30 pm on February 5.

In the notification, the commission also said that as per the provisions under the Representation of the People Act, the display of any election matter (which includes results from any kind of survey) will remain prohibited in the 48-hour period.

“In exercise of the powers under sub-Section (1) of Section 126A of the R.P. Act, 1951, the Election Commission, having regard to the provisions of Sub-Section (2) of the said Section, hereby notifies the period between 7.00 am to 6.30 pm on 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) as the period during which conducting and publishing or publicizing exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the aforesaid general and bye elections, shall be prohibited,” read the notification.

“Under Section 126( 1)(b) of the R.P. Act, 1951, displaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the conclusion of the poll in connection with the aforesaid general and byeelections,” it added.

In the press conference, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that Delhi is facing two kinds of pollution – weather and political pollution.

“People are worried about staying in Delhi because of weather pollution and political pollution. Both are dangerous for health. In the last 10 years, the governance has failed in Delhi. It is a failed model. Without creating wealth, what is the right of politicians to distribute wealth?…” he said.

He added that the capital is a failed model and quizzed how can the government distribute wealth without creating wealth.

“Can you imagine that the AAP party has two states- Delhi and Punjab? Is it (AAP government) not a total failure model?… There is no difference between drainage water and drinking water in Delhi… They (AAP) are talking about corruption… Compared to every other scam, the liquor scam is the worst… This model is not good for the nation… We have to debate from now onwards that if any politician creates wealth, then only they can talk about the distribution of wealth… That is the debate that needs to be discussed in Delhi elections,” he said.

Naidu said that Delhi has a half-engine government and BJP will provide a double-engine government after coming to power.

Speaking to PTI, BJP leader Jagdambika Pal said that there is a change of wave in the national capital. “Whatever Arvind Kejriwal promised, didn’t fulfil. There is a wave of change in Delhi. People are waiting for February 5 to get freedom from this (AAP) government,” he said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a press conference, said that he has come to Delhi to appeal to the voters of Delhi.

He said that India has become an inspiration for other countries and the world is watching the developments and underlined the fact that Delhi is the national capital.

“People all over the world are watching India’s development. Even during my recent visit to Davos, I have seen a lot of interest in India’s development. India is a pulling factor for global economic growth. Through artificial intelligence, India is going to play a very important role in the global economy,” he said.

“Delhi is totally polluted. Clean air, pollution-free and the best living standard is only possible through NDA. I am appealing to all the citizens to vote for NDA. Welfare, development and empowerment will be done,” Naidu had said earlier.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Delhi’s former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for coming in WagonR and going straight to the ‘Sheesh Mahal’.

Speaking at a public rally, Gandhi said, “Arvind Kejriwal WagonR mein aaye, sweater pehne aur khambe pe chadh gaye. Phir khambe se utre aur seedha sheesh Mahal mein gaye. (Arvind Kejriwal came in a WagonR, wearing a sweater, and climbed a pole. Then he got down from the pole and went straight to the Sheesh Mahal)”.

“Ladayi chal rahi thi, ek taraf Narendra Modi, ek taraf Congress party aur beech mein aise Kejriwal ji khambe pe chadh gaye… Khambe pe chadhne ke baad bola main nayi rajneeti launga, brashtachaar mitaunga, bhaichaara launga, Yamuna aur Dilli ka paani saaf karunga. (There was a fight going on, with Narendra Modi on one side and the Congress party on the other, and in between, Kejriwal ji climbed a pole… After climbing the pole, he said, ‘I will bring new politics, eliminate corruption, bring brotherhood, and clean the water of Yamuna and Delhi),” he said.

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said that they have not received any complaints with regard to the allegations made by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of intimidation and harassment by the BJP workers in the New Delhi Assembly constituency.

The Delhi CEO’s office sent a letter to the AAP leader informing him that the District Election Officer (DEO) and the Delhi Police are reviewing the matter, however, “no written complaints could be traced in most of the cases”.

Kejriwal had earlier written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) appealing for protection for the workers. He had also requested the CEC to suspend police who were not able to prevent attacks by BJP supporters.

The CEC said that the complaints are being addressed through the EC’s C-VIGIL portal.

“In the New Delhi constituency, action has been taken on 115 complaints within 100 minutes in the majority of cases since January 7,” the letter said.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP chief Amit Shah “slaves of big industrialists”.

Speaking at a rally, she said that not seen “crybaby” leaders or “bigger cowards than them”.

She criticised the prime minister for accusing the Congress leader and her mother Sonia Gandhi of making insulting remarks about President Droupadi Murmu.

“Modi ji that day said about my mother that she had insulted the President. What kind of issue did they raise? One elderly woman is expressing her sympathy for another elderly woman, saying that ‘bechari Rashtrapati ji thak gayi hongi ek ghante ka bhashan unko padhna pada (President would have been tired as she was made to read out an address for an hour)’,” Priyanka said, as reported by news agency PTI.

“They attempted to make this an election issue, saying it is an insult. You are insulting the people of the country who are struggling due to inflation and unemployment, they are not getting pensions and safai karamcharis are troubled, and you are talking about these useless things,” she added.

Gandhi said that Kejriwal or PM Modi, they are “slaves of these big industrialists”. She added that PM Modi has been attacking Kejriwal for building a “sheesh mahal” but has built a “raj mahal” for himself.

The Delhi elections began with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the pole position to gain power yet again. But has something changed as we enter the last lap before the voting on February 5?

Speaking exclusively to News 18, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the BJP will change the name Babarpur Assembly constituency if the BJP comes into power.

He said that he is confident a double-engine government will be formed in Delhi and added that the capital’s people have decided to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision a reality.

Sarma said that BJP candidate Naresh Gaur will win after defeating AAP’s Gopal Rai and Babarpur will be given a better name.
