Kerala: Vice Principal Suspended Amid Student’s Death Controversy
In another news, GEMS Modern Academy, Kochi, has suspended its Vice Principal, Binu Azeez, following a controversy over the death of former student Mihir Ahammed (15), who was allegedly harassed at the school. The suspension was announced on Sunday, February 2, as the incident sparked widespread outrage in the state.
In a press release, the school stated: “The management has decided to suspend Vice Principal Binu Azeez immediately to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into the recent incident involving our former student, Mihir Ahammed."
Mihir died by suicide after reportedly facing mistreatment at the school. His mother, PM Rajna, raised concerns in a letter to Binu Azeez, revealing that Mihir had been suspended for seven days over an altercation with a female student. However, even after the suspension ended, his family claims he was isolated—made to sit in a separate room and not allowed to interact with classmates.
